TRAINING

Monitoring activities are done year round, with more regular (2-weekly) monitoring from Dec to Feb.

MAHI

Monitoring is preceded with tree identification to determine the pōhutukawa species - native, a kermadec species, or a hybrid of the two. Trees are selected and allocated to a transect line.

Involves walking the transect lines monitoring the health and well-being of select pōhutukawa.

Monitors will provide regular surveillance of trees and reporting, recording basic information about tree.

Monitors are seeking to assess the tree, and report on its health, presence and effects of myrtle rust, other impacting factors.

Reporting is recorded through ArcGIS and regulated by Kawana.
